Sacred Blood

by Wolfie @ 2006-06-07 - 15:20:09

I offer this sacred blood
Blood of healing
I offer this sacred blood
Blood of peace

'Tis the blood of the Great Mother
The blood of the Goddess
'Tis the blood of my Moon sisters
That links us together

I shed this sacred blood
Blood of healing
I shed this sacred blood
Blood of peace

'Tis the blood of sorrows
The blood of tears
'Tis the blood of sacrifice
That runs through our veins

I walk the path of blood
The path of healing
I give this sacred blood
Back to the Great Mother

'Tis the path of healing
The path of my Moon sisters
And of my ancestors
That brings us together

We share this sacred blood
Blood of healing
We share this sacred blood
Blood of peace

The poem express the thoughts behind it in very forceful way with its repeatative style.
Just want to know about 'moon sisters'. What is the concept or story?

Hello Varshakale

The poem is about the female mysteries tradition and the Moon sisters are the women alive on the planet today who have rediscovered how to honour their womanhood and the Earth, the Great Mother, also called the Goddess, through rituals to the Moon.

Every female's menstrual cycle naturally follows the Moon cycles. The use of the sacred menstrual blood for healing and for peace is an ancient spiritual female tradition which dates back to the dawn of humankind but which became suppressed with the advent of the male deity religions (due to fear of the feminine power) and the repression of women by our patriarchal society. What once used to be considered sacred is now seen as dirty and embarrassing. However, without this sacred blood, life could not be.

Many women today are slowly reconnecting with this ancient sacred rite that honours womanhood and the earth and which can bring balance to this world and restore harmony between the male and female principles.

Here's a link to a beautiful poetic text on this subject. I hope you enjoy it.
